David Norris: There is an Irish citizen who is currently imprisoned in Sri Lanka. I am not sure we should be agreeing anything with regard to Sri Lanka while somebody is illegally detained in the most disgraceful way. They are playing cat and mouse with us and treating the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and this country with contempt. I do not agree to that but I am not going to call a vote.

David Norris: I formally second the amendment. I do so in what I believe is an impartial manner because I agree with Senator Bacik that this issue has been around for at least five years. The previous Government did nothing about it. Perhaps its way of dealing with the issue was to ignore it.
