Colm Burke: In other words, one is moving them off the CAMHS waiting list onto a disability waiting list.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services: Families for Reform of CAMHS (17 Jan 2024)
Colm Burke: On the co-ordination of those two waiting lists, are our guest speakers saying that there is no co-ordination?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services: Families for Reform of CAMHS (17 Jan 2024)
Colm Burke: Is it not about co-ordination? Surely we should be able to co-ordinate services where someone is admitted to hospital and to a particular area but it is then found they have a totally different condition. There is the co-ordination then of the transfer over of the patient. The person may have been admitted as the result of a fall but suddenly finds they have a heart condition and there is...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services: Families for Reform of CAMHS (17 Jan 2024)
Colm Burke: The whole historical issue with regard to mental health was that we literally parked the person in a facility and that was it. We have moved on from that but we have not replaced or provided the necessary support. The co-ordination of services is the one key area we are falling down on. Is that lack of co-ordination an easy exercise to resolve?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services: Families for Reform of CAMHS (17 Jan 2024)
Colm Burke: Do our guest speakers believe that if the will was there to resolve it, that it could be resolved?

Colm Burke: As the Minister will know, Cork is doing very well in the pharmaceutical industry. Nine of the ten top pharmaceutical companies in the world are based in Cork. The people I am referring to are essential to that area, such as pipe fitters and mechanical apprentices. It is extremely important that we have that number. At the moment, there is up to a 21-month period from the time the person...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Apprenticeship Programmes (18 Jan 2024)
Colm Burke: Briefly, I thank the Minister for the work he has done. There has been a huge improvement in the support for employers taking on apprentices and for apprentices as well. I will just respond to the issue of the number of people who are leaving the country and those who are coming back in. Some 144,000 have come back in the last five years and 138,000 have left. Those are the figures over a...

Mr. McKeon gave a figure of 103,000 for Ukrainian arrivals but said that number is now done to 80,000. What is the evidence for a reduction of 20,000-plus? Are there particular reasons he has come to that conclusion?

Chapter 17 - Actuarial Review of the Social Insurance Fund (18 Jan 2024) Colm Burke: The landlord who gets the €800 per month does not have to make a tax return in respect of it. I have heard criticisms that people paying €1,200 suddenly find their tenancies terminated in order for their landlords to take up the new accommodation recognition payment.
