I did not include the approved housing bodies but the Iveagh Trust had a 78 unit one that took seven years. That would be a concern if that was going to be the benchmark for some of the other 442, not including the 33 that are performing so well...

In his opening address Mr. McCarthy mentioned prevention and matching families with need with appropriate accommodation before they become homeless. Is he aware that many local authorities are telling people they can do nothing for them until they are declared homeless?

If their name is on a mortgage, the local authority can do nothing for them because the rule is that they own a house, therefore, they do not have a housing need and it cannot look after them.
