- Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: University Sector (17 Apr 2013)
Stephen Donnelly: I thank the Minister of State for his reply. I accept that some good things are happening. Universities have two roles and these relate to the areas of research and training. There has been a great deal of healthy focus, including on the part of the Minister of State, on research. In that context, the Industrial Development (Science Foundation Ireland) (Amendment) Bill 2012 is currently...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Bank Charges: Discussion with Central Bank and ISME (17 Apr 2013)
Stephen Donnelly: I appreciate that. Perhaps I will restate my question. There is unambiguous evidence that Irish customers are being overcharged, be it through interest rates or charges. This is the only way the banks here can be more profitable than banks anywhere else. If we accept that Irish customers are being overcharged there must be a reason for it. Either the regulatory capacity is not good...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Bank Charges: Discussion with Central Bank and ISME (17 Apr 2013)
Stephen Donnelly: Let me be clear. Mr. Sheridan does not accept that Irish consumers are being charged more, either through interest or charges.
