Regina Doherty: The State pension age is currently 66 years of age. This will increase to 67 in 2021 and to 68 in 2028. The State pension (contributory) is a PRSI based payment. Under Social Welfare Legislation, qualification for the scheme is based on the social insurance record of the person concerned up to their 66th birthday.
