Public Accounts Committee: 2020 Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts
Vote 34 - Housing, Local Government and Heritage
(17 Feb 2022)

Brian Stanley: Will Mr. Doyle come back to us with the exact costs, with details on the types of housing and the cost for each type? Some of them are one and two bedroom apartments. I am also interested in the Oscar Traynor Road site. Again, housing is needed but the problem is that on State-owned land, we are talking about €380,000 per unit.

Vote 34 - Housing, Local Government and Heritage
(17 Feb 2022)

Brian Stanley: In terms of the cost to the State for units that are essentially on "free" land, that is, land that is owned by the State or the local authority, what is an acceptable figure from the Department's point of view for a three bedroom house, for example? What is the benchmark figure?

Vote 34 - Housing, Local Government and Heritage
(17 Feb 2022)

Brian Stanley: At this point, the figures are there because the deal is done and that is fair enough. There is a mixture of one, two and three bedroom units, some of which are apartments and some of which are houses. What I am trying to ascertain here is the cost to the State, via Dublin City Council or other local authorities, of each unit. What is the cost to the State of a one bedroom apartment? What...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Feb 2022)

Brian Stanley: What is the number of the point to which the Deputy is referring?

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Feb 2022)

Brian Stanley: In relation to point No. 5, there is a short reply that those matters that the Deputy is referring to are before the High Court. It states: The decisions to issue these proceedings, rests with the [children's hospital board] and the contractor. A moratorium applying to conciliations and adjudications and High Court proceedings was agreed between [the two parties] and is ongoing.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Feb 2022)

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (17 Feb 2022)

Brian Stanley: At present, there are 818 claims where there is a claimed value of €432.9 million. There are 688 of them where there are notices of dissatisfaction. They are still in dispute. That figure, we have to assume, can only go upwards. It would seem to be a substantial sum. We will look for replies on that. In relation to the issue of the confirmation as to who is responsible for the...
