Brendan Griffin: As the Deputy may know, the scheme announced during the summer was a pilot scheme. That scheme will come to an end on 31 December. The success or otherwise of such schemes will be assessed. In 2019 we will be reviewing the position, with a view to continuing the scheme in the future. The pilot was to assess how the model might work in rural communities.

Brendan Griffin: To be as frank and open as I possibly can be, someone somewhere in the Department dropped the ball on this one. I was given details of a question asked by a different Deputy Moynihan on a different national road. This is why I do not have a specific briefing on the N72. It is not acceptable that a Deputy asking a question on a Topical Issue matter would not be given specific answers.
