Dermot Ahern: The compulsory retirement age of 65 was removed for all 'new entrants' (as defined in the Public Service Superannuation Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 2004) recruited on or after 1 April 2004. There are 632 staff (235 male and 397 female) currently serving in my Department who were recruited since 1 April 2004, the vast majority of whom may serve after the age of 65.
