- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Indecon Report: Bord na gCon (21 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: Could I have clarity on that? Is the appeals committee a stand-alone committee independent of Bord na gCon? My understanding is that Ms Larkin said they are not answerable to or under the remit of Bord na gCon. She said the control committee is answerable to the appeals committee, so who is on the appeals committee and what structure are they under?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Indecon Report: Bord na gCon (21 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: I would like to get clarity on that. I will be guided by the Chairman.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Indecon Report: Bord na gCon (21 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: I would like Ms Larkin to provide clarity on the appeals committee by correspondence as I am aware she does not have the membership with her.

Denis Landy: If the bottom line of the track does not meet the wage costs, where do they come from?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Indecon Report: Bord na gCon (21 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: So the IGB picks up the cost of the wages if the track is not able to cover it. In other words, if the track is not viable, it cannot cover it. Is that correct?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Indecon Report: Bord na gCon (21 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: I asked about your own tracks.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Indecon Report: Bord na gCon (21 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: I apologise for having to leave the meeting to attend a vote in the Seanad. I referred earlier to the Limerick fiasco. I acknowledge that my wording might have been a little strong. Will the delegates indicate how they intend to turn that situation around and how that particular element of the deficit will be addressed as a separate entity, if the plan is, in fact, to address it as such?...
- Seanad: Order of Business (22 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: It started about three weeks ago.
- Seanad: Order of Business (22 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: Last Sunday was a relatively quiet day for sports both at national and international level, but it was one of the most important days of the year at club level. A total of 15 titles were decided last week. It was the most important day in the history of the Ballincollig club in Cork when its senior team became county champions for the first time in the club's 128 year history. Portlaoise...

Denis Landy: It is very relevant and the last time I raised the issue-----
- Seanad: Order of Business (22 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: -----you tried to rule me out of order, but, please, give me the chance to develop the point.
- Seanad: Order of Business (22 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: The issue is that the State broadcaster, RTE, is refusing to give the people of Ireland information on our national games. It is the national broadcaster which is subsidised by taxpayers, yet for three years in a row it has tried to prevent ordinary people from finding out what is happening in our national games. That is surely an issue for this House to discuss. I contacted the GAA about...
- Seanad: Order of Business (22 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: Nobody following rugby or soccer was told to go there. It is about time RTE was brought to heel on this matter. I call on the Leader to bring in the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to put manners on RTE in relation to our entitlement to hear what is going on in the world of GAA - our national sports - on a weekly basis.
- Seanad: Order of Business (22 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: They are managed by a Clare man, of course.
- Seanad: Order of Business (23 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: Strangely enough, I received a very prompt response from RTE yesterday on the issue I had raised about our national games. It does watch what we are doing. The response was not very constructive, but we will follow up on it. Anti-social behaviour is rife. In a research paper entitled, Tackling anti-social behaviour: international problems, indigenous solutions, Jacinta Cunneen, a research...
- Seanad: Order of Business (23 Oct 2014)
Denis Landy: There is an undercurrent, which means that there is a need for legislators to look at the issue. After the recess I ask the Leader to request the Minister for Justice and Equality to come to the House to discuss what else we can do, as legislators, to stamp out this carry-on, which would be unacceptable in any other society in the world.
