- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: General Scheme of Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty - Drink Driving) Bill 2017: Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport (5 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: The point I was making was about a level of zero.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: General Scheme of Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty - Drink Driving) Bill 2017: Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport (5 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: I read all that and I do not dispute it. Perhaps I did not make myself clear. I am asking what are the components of that particular table. Is it only alcohol or were other things tested for? According to those statistics, it seems that driving is more risky with lower BAC levels than it is with higher levels . That is jumping out at me. Are there other circumstances to consider? If we...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: General Scheme of Road Traffic (Fixed Penalty - Drink Driving) Bill 2017: Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport (5 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: The point I am making is that if there are other circumstances, we are not comparing like with like.
- Other Questions: County Development Plans (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: 7. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if he will recommend that the changed plan be resubmitted for public consultation in view of the fact that the Celbridge local area plan has changed significantly since it was first advertised for public consultation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. - Other Questions: County Development Plans (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: The Celbridge local area plan went on display over Christmas and during the month of January and there were 2,700 submissions, including one from the Minister's Department. The plan has fundamentally changed on foot of the submission from the Department and I am seeking a provision to go back to the drawing board and put the plan back on public display so that people will have the...
- Other Questions: County Development Plans (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: I am not asking the Minister to comment on the substance of the changes but there are some 6,500 houses in Celbridge, which have been built over several decades, and the proposal is to add another 3,200 houses to them over a seven-year period. The town is already struggling in the areas of social and physical infrastructure and it is a huge amount to absorb over a short period. People were...
- Other Questions: County Development Plans (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: I can understand the sustainability argument in respect of transport but there are other issues of sustainability in respect of the quantum of new houses in an area that is already struggling from the point of view of infrastructure. If the proposed quantum is pursued, I predict that it will not be realised because of the constraints. It simply gives the impression that something can be...
- Other Questions: Local Authority Housing (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: Regarding the planning system, how that is handled is very patchy. A person presenting as homeless can wait for three weeks to be processed. A lot of homelessness is hidden because family and friends are helping out. In areas outside cities that would not previously have experienced front-line homelessness, the services are very underdeveloped.
- Written Answers — Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government: Homeless Accommodation Provision (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: 69. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if his Department will meet its target for the cessation of hotel accommodation for homeless persons; if those persons will be moved to other emergency accommodation or provided with a secure tenancy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16796/17]
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: Is it to deal with the report on the audit?
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (6 Apr 2017)
Catherine Murphy: That is specifically what we are dealing with.
- Public Accounts Committee: 2015 Annual Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts
Waterford Institute of Technology: Financial Statements 2013-2014 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: I am absolutely surprised at the time we will have to expend on this sector. It is only a sample of the sector. That means that oversight on other sectors will be postponed or will be limited. The Department of Education and Skills and the Higher Education Authority will have seen the audited accounts that have qualified certificates. In any organisation that would raise a red flag. In...
- Public Accounts Committee: 2015 Annual Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts
Waterford Institute of Technology: Financial Statements 2013-2014 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: What has happened as a consequence of the hearings is that people are coming forward with information that actually adds to our understanding. How that has not been understood in the areas that it should have been understood and acted on is extremely concerning. I concur with the point that this sector has a degree of freedom and autonomy that will potentially undermine its status and from...
- Public Accounts Committee: Dublin Institute of Technology: Financial Statement 2013-2014
Grangegorman Development Agency: Financial Statement 2015 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: The witness is very welcome. I was going to say good morning but I think we have gone past that. I will try to keep my contribution short and I would appreciate succinct replies. The thing that stands out is the money that was spent on the library services and that DIT did not receive those services. Clearly, that money was not recouped. I note that those services had been contracted for...

Grangegorman Development Agency: Financial Statement 2015 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: What efforts were made to recover the money?
- Public Accounts Committee: Dublin Institute of Technology: Financial Statement 2013-2014
Grangegorman Development Agency: Financial Statement 2015 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: Presumably, different services then had to be contracted to fulfil the needs of the institute. How much did those services cost?
- Public Accounts Committee: Dublin Institute of Technology: Financial Statement 2013-2014
Grangegorman Development Agency: Financial Statement 2015 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: In regard to this type of company or supplier, does much of the material supplied and made available by them come directly from universities themselves, such as researchers signing copyright agreements? Is that the type of service in issue?
- Public Accounts Committee: Dublin Institute of Technology: Financial Statement 2013-2014
Grangegorman Development Agency: Financial Statement 2015 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: What was the reason for the delay in DIT joining the Irish research library initiative?

- Public Accounts Committee: Dublin Institute of Technology: Financial Statement 2013-2014
Grangegorman Development Agency: Financial Statement 2015 (6 Apr 2017) Catherine Murphy: If DIT was paying towards another supplier, it would have made a contribution towards it. It would have been an asset to it. Am I reading that wrong?
