Máire Hoctor: No such estimate has been reached yet in relation to this site. The future use of the site will determine the nature of the rehabilitation and that has not been determined or even explored. Costs were not the determining factor in this and, as I outlined in my response, the subcontractors were in breach of the contract in the work they were carrying out.

In respect of health and safety, the local authority has acted as the agent on behalf of the Department in the daily carrying out of work on this and monitoring the work of the contractor.
