Dara Calleary: FÁS trainee allowances are directly linked to Department of Social and Family Affairs (DSFA) benefits received by those persons who are unemployed. Consequently, any change to the rate of DSFA benefits is also applied to FÁS trainees, including those who may have already been enrolled on a FÁS training course prior to the 2010 Budget adjustments.
