- Financial Resolutions 2016 - Financial Resolution No. 5: General (Resumed) (14 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: Some are but most are imported. The ones for which prices are being quoted are imported from abroad. If they are made in Ireland, that is good, but in the long term we must ensure there are no obstacles. Planning is a problem. - Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Sport Ireland: Chairperson Designate (21 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: I welcome Mr. Mulvey. Although I do not know him, I must say I was impressed by his straightforward and honest contribution to a television programme he appeared on last night. It seemed to come from the heart, which is not something we encounter in bucketfuls around this place. It was good and refreshing to see someone so impressive whose heart is in the right place. We all know we...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Sport Ireland: Chairperson Designate (21 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: Yes. Can something be done regarding the high-performance team? Perhaps some other body could take it over. Can Mr. Mulvey intervene now, even at this late stage, by putting his neck on the line to ensure this is pulled out of the fire? I ask him to intervene with our boxers, Billy Walsh and whomever else in order to ensure that common sense prevails so that we can go forward to the next...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Emissions Readings for Volkswagen Cars: Discussion (21 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: Am I correct in saying that in 2009, Volkswagen changed the emissions? Does this mean that the emissions from a car built now are the same as those from a car that was built in 2008, because this did not work, or are they greater now? Is it true that Volkswagen has now stopped selling all of its vehicles, including Transporter vans, Caddies and so on, in Ireland? Is there a plan for...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Emissions Readings for Volkswagen Cars: Discussion (21 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: Mr. Himmer is missing my point. How were the cars able to con NCT machines in Ireland when they were revved to check the emissions? The problem appears to have started in 2009, and once a car is two or three years old, it has to be tested. Emissions testing for cars involves the use of spec sheets to test standards. How were cars able to fool the emissions machines here?
- Leaders' Questions (22 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: On coming to power, the Government promised to break down barriers, break up the cosy cartels, open up competition, eliminate the system of nods and winks and abolish quangos. The transport industry is very important and creates large numbers of jobs. It welcomes the measures the Minister for Finance took in the budget on taxation paid on large vehicles. Those who drive lorries must...
