Paul Connaughton: I thank the Acting Chairman for the opportunity to speak on this Bill. The extension of the remit of Science Foundation Ireland, as provided for in this Bill, is most welcome. - Topical Issue Debate: Beef Technology Adoption Programme (18 Apr 2013)
Paul Connaughton: I thank the Ceann Comhairle's office for the opportunity to raise this issue. This is a relatively new scheme that has been running for only two years. Paul Connaughton: On that basis, one would have to look at what happened across all Departments in the years from 2005 to 2009 to get a full picture of this issue.
- Public Sector Pay and Conditions: Motion [Private Members] (23 Apr 2013)
Paul Connaughton: Like many Members of this House, I am disappointed that the Croke Park II proposals were rejected by the unions, but now that they have been rejected, it is important that we properly explore the reasons they were rejected and consider the views that were shared in order to determine the best course of action. There is no easy option to be taken. A total of €300 million in savings...
