Michael Fitzmaurice: When will that be?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications: Estimates for Public Services 2015: Vote 29 - Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (7 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: Let us suppose the Minister allowed himself some wriggle room with the procurement. Are we to take it the date will be in January, February, March or April? What month next year will it be done by? The Minister might allow himself a little wiggle room. At what stage will the procurement be done, given the general routes of the Commission at the moment and the fact that Minister has said...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Organic Farming Scheme: Organic Farmers Representative Body (8 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: I welcome the representatives. There is a problem in terms of the double payment for those farmers who have 17 or 18 hectares. I understand a farmer who was a participant in the rural environment protection scheme, REPS, could be a participant of that scheme and of the organic scheme and receive payments under the two schemes, but now a farmer will get only one or other of those payments....
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Organic Farming Scheme: Organic Farmers Representative Body (8 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: Am I correct in saying that both schemes involve Pillar 2 funding?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Organic Farming Scheme: Organic Farmers Representative Body (8 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: I have used the analogy of the two doors. We have been told that one could be kicked out of it if one got into it, and that if one has owned meadow or pasture up to now - I accept that this is changing - one might get into GLAS down the road by not being in organics. I am saying that if the money does not go out this door for the organics scheme, the farmer can go out the other side. It is...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Organic Farming Scheme: Organic Farmers Representative Body (8 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: Is there one certification body or more than one? What are their names? If we are to find out about the cost of the certification, we need to know that.

- Leaders' Questions (14 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: This morning in Loughrea, County Galway, three people are in the dock, having been accused for defending their own private property. This has come about because, in 1997, at a time when the Taoiseach was a member of Government, the current President signed off on legislation that has caused major problems throughout the country. As I said, these people are accused of defending their own...
- Leaders' Questions (14 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: The Taoiseach spoke about Bord na Móna and options, but would he move to a rented house if he owned his own house? He would not, but that was the option there for bog owners. Therefore, it was a non-option. The Taoiseach must understand that there are 35 more of these areas coming down the line at the end of next year. Nothing has been resolved. In 17 years only two of those...
- Leaders' Questions (14 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: We must get clarity on this. Land has been designated - I am not talking just about bogs - and farmers cannot farm their land.
- Leaders' Questions (14 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: The Taoiseach is well aware of this. This is happening even in his county of Mayo. In Limerick and west Cork also there are problems where farmers in marginal lands cannot clean a drain or fence their lands.
- Leaders' Questions (14 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: What can they do? Will the Taoiseach go to Europe and explain to these "people", whoever they may be that we will not tolerate being bullied like this? We are willing to work with people, but it should not be up to them to make decisions. This should be done in the spirit of partnership, with people working together. It should not be them saying: "You have to get off your private...

- Financial Resolutions 2016 - Financial Resolution No. 5: General (Resumed) (14 Oct 2015)
Michael Fitzmaurice: I am involved in a national school and welcome the reduction of numbers for a three teacher school from 56 to 55. We hoped it might have been possible to come down one or two more, to make sure that rural schools would be saved. The bottom threshold is reaching 52. I welcome the minor works grant and summer works scheme because they are vital to national schools around the country....
