Pádraic McCormack: It is not happening. Was any of the €56 million underspent on the capital side used to pay administrative staff? When the Health Service Executive was set up and the 11 health boards were abolished, what happened to the chief executive officers and all their staff? None of them was sacked or anything like that. What are they doing now and what are they being paid to do now? On the cutbacks...

Pádraic McCormack: This is a question. I want clarification on this. The letter stated that there are people in Clonbur who would take up the post but there is an embargo on the recruitment of staff at present. In reply to a parliamentary question yesterday, the Minister stated that her Department has not imposed any limits on the recruitment of staff.

Pádraic McCormack: Is there an embargo on the recruitment of staff for home help? I am aware of cases where home help has been cut back from eight to four hours and the Health Service Executive informs me it cannot appoint anybody. If the money available were released, we would be able to keep people in their own homes rather than put them into institutional care.
