- Seanad: Order of Business. (7 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: In the light of events unfolding, when does the Leader believe operational control will commence with regard to the business to which I cannot refer, No. 21 on the Order Paper, because it is not due until next week? What will be the status of the existing board when that Bill is enacted? What will happen to the Great Southern Hotels group?
- Seanad: Order of Business. (7 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: It is not mentioned in the Bill and I wonder what will happen to the group. Will the hotels be sold off piecemeal?
- Seanad: Order of Business. (7 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: I will do so and I am very grateful to the Cathaoirleach. Will the Leader reply on the main items, the operational control and the board and when the other boards are to come into being? They are in place already like shadow boards. I look forward to the Leader's reply.
- Seanad: Order of Business. (13 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: Will the Leader respond to the issue raised by Senators Brian Hayes and O'Meara on the State Airports Bill? It is conceded that there is a drafting error with the Bill and that it must be returned to the Lower House. Will the Leader clarify this matter? Will the Leader also clarify how the Aer Rianta debt problem and a proposed court action by one of its directors may impinge on the Bill?
- Seanad: Order of Business. (13 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: I acknowledge the Leader's forthrightness in her comments on how this Bill is unnecessary, rushed, premature and not good legislation. She certainly struck a chord on this side of the House because we are all of that viewââ
- Seanad: Order of Business. (13 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: ââwhatever about chords struck on the other side. I am slightly confused and I ask the Leader for clarification. I appreciate and expected that was the Leader's view from answers she previously gave on the subject. However, I thought she put on the record following a meeting with the Taoiseach that she was happy the Bill had to be taken now. Will the Leader clarify in her own inimitable...

- Seanad: State Airports Bill 2004: Second Stage. (13 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: I thank the Minister for Transport for his overview of the legislation although I disagree with much of what he said. The State Airports Bill 2004 allows the aviation regulator to set passenger charges for Dublin Airport but removes Shannon and Cork Airports from regulation due to their weaker financial positions. This provision appears to conflict with the Aviation Regulation Act 2001 which...

- Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Jul 2004)
Paul Coghlan: I join Senator Hayes in his call for an early debate after the summer recess on insurance and I too read with interest the leak of the report this morning. We have a meeting today to discuss the matter and the report will be officially launched on Friday. As I have said before, I hope that during the summer recess the Minister for Finance might provide significant increases in the income...

Paul Coghlan: It is good to see the Leas-Chathaoirleach in the Chair. It could be a forerunner of things to come. I wish to be associated with the warm words of welcome to everyone but particularly to Jody Blake and Senator Kate Walsh. I trust that the Leader enjoyed her sojourn in Kerryââ
- Seanad: Order of Business. (29 Sep 2004)
Paul Coghlan: ââeven if it was all too short and even if she did not bother any of us on this occasion.
- Seanad: Order of Business. (29 Sep 2004)
Paul Coghlan: I was not going to refer to that. In view of the expected announcement in the Lower House and the precedents which exist for the possible appointment of a Member of this House to the Cabinet, will the Leader provide a sos in order that we might hear the announcement? There is some concern abroad about the renowned house of culture in our capital city which is facing demolition because of a...
