Pat Breen: On that question, does Dr. Hashemi think national governments are doing enough to prevent citizens from going abroad to fight in Syria? We have approximately 33 Irish people there and a few have been killed in the crisis. Our police force is monitoring the situation. These are small numbers compared with the UK, France and other countries.

As he is director of international studies in the University of Denver, I ask him to comment on the Middle East process and the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
