David Stanton: We are aware of organisations which are not registered as charities but are collecting money for various causes. What approach will the regulator take on these organisations? Will it be pursuing them to ensure they are registered and above board, and that their funding is used for the purpose for which it is collected?

David Stanton: We have carried a considerable amount of work on penal reform in the past year and have published a report on it. I am sot sure if Ms Mulligan is aware of it.

David Stanton: Yes, this could be done. My view is that this ties in very much with our report on penal reform. We met other groups working in this area such as the Cornmarket Project in Wexford, Care After Prison, the Irish Association for the Social Integration of Offenders and many more. Ms Mulligan’s project adds another important dimension to this which complements the work of these groups.
