Working Group of Committee Chairmen: Public Policy Matters: Engagement with the Taoiseach (12 May 2022)

Seán Crowe: In the past couple of weeks, we have seen a number of high-profile resignations with Dr. Tony Holohan, Dr. Ronan Glynn, and, in the last couple of days, the chief operating officer, COO, of the HSE signalling their intentions to leave their posts in the coming weeks. We all know the pandemic was an incredibly stressful time for all involved in public health. I would not fault anyone for...

Working Group of Committee Chairmen: Public Policy Matters: Engagement with the Taoiseach (12 May 2022)

Seán Crowe: I am sorry; I meant the maternity hospital. The committee was asking that we would be given the adequate time to try to bring in all the different people who are clamouring at the moment to try to get in. We are meeting today for four hours. We were talking about meeting on Friday for another number of hours. We are really racing against the clock here. It is not of our making. I can...

Working Group of Committee Chairmen: Public Policy Matters: Engagement with the Taoiseach (12 May 2022)

Seán Crowe: A decision was taken last week that the health committee would have a look at this. A week is not sufficient for anyone to look at the huge issues involved in this. Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: New National Maternity Hospital: Discussion (Resumed) (16 May 2022)

Seán Crowe: My apologies for the technical problems. As I was saying, we were hoping to get representatives of St. Vincent's Holdings before the committee. It was very short notice, but that is down to the timescale within which we were trying to work on this matter. Two of the directors are away and another had a prior engagement. I appreciate the witnesses coming in and giving their time today....
