Mary Harney: It has been established by statutory instrument. It is recruiting a CEO and has staff, but will not have its powers until we pass the legislation.

Mary Harney: The Medical Council legislation will have a significant bearing on some of the issues in the Lourdes report. The heads of that Bill will be published before the summer and we will have the final Bill in the autumn. The heads of the nurses and midwives Bill will be introduced later this year with the full Bill following early next year.

Mary Harney: The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
