Topical Issue Debate: Home Care Packages (5 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: I tabled a written question on the cutbacks in home care packages in Galway. I addressed the question to the Minister and got a reply on 4 October which said "As this is a service matter it has been referred to the Health Service Executive for direct reply". I contacted the Health Service Executive before I tabled the question which I tabled in exasperation to the Minister and this is the...

Topical Issue Debate: Home Care Packages (5 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: I thank the Minister of State for her reply. However, the full capacity protocol is in operation in Galway. Code black is the one it is using. The hospital is in crisis, notwithstanding anything the Minister of State has told me in this reply. That is the position in Galway. The money for the home care packages has been used up and no money is available to provide the necessary home care...

Mental Health Services: Motion [Private Members] (5 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: This is the third time we have debated mental health issues in this Dáil. I fully support the motion not necessarily because of its wording, but because it seeks to put pressure on the Government to do what it should do, which is review A Vision for Change. A Vision for Change, as was pointed out, was introduced in 2006. It followed Planning for the Future in 1984, which was not acted...

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (6 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: Can we go back to the previous item briefly? I am afraid I was distracted.

Public Accounts Committee: Special Report No. 94 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: National Asset Management Agency Sale of Project Eagle (Resumed) (6 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: Page 8. Do I understand the Minister has now corrected, "The chairman of NAMA informed me that, having consulted its financial adviser...," to, "The chairman of NAMA informed me that he was about to consult..."?

Public Accounts Committee: Special Report No. 94 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: National Asset Management Agency Sale of Project Eagle (Resumed) (6 Oct 2016)

Public Accounts Committee: Special Report No. 94 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: National Asset Management Agency Sale of Project Eagle (Resumed) (6 Oct 2016)

Public Accounts Committee: Special Report No. 94 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: National Asset Management Agency Sale of Project Eagle (Resumed) (6 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: I am going to be quick with my questions. There are five chapters, including an introduction, followed by chapters 2, 3 and 4 which deal with the financial outcome of the loan sale. I will not read out the other details. Then there is a full chapter on conflicts of interest. Is the Minister familiar with that? Has he read it? That is great. When the Minister reduces this down to...

Public Accounts Committee: Special Report No. 94 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: National Asset Management Agency Sale of Project Eagle (Resumed) (6 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: The Minister is missing the point completely in his evidence today. The same applies to the evidence of his officials and the evidence of NAMA officials on the previous occasion in reducing this discussion to whether 5.5% was appropriate. This is a detailed report on many issues.

Public Accounts Committee: Special Report No. 94 of the Comptroller and Auditor General: National Asset Management Agency Sale of Project Eagle (Resumed) (6 Oct 2016)

Catherine Connolly: Let me deal with this. The Minister does not believe he is missing the point. Let me deal with the 5.5%. Is it the evidence of the Minister that the Comptroller and Auditor General picked this 5.5% out of the sky?
