- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: National Paediatric Hospital: Discussion (27 Oct 2016)
Louise O'Reilly: I know that we are under time pressure, but I am very uncomfortable with the statement made about the clinical directors. In her submission Ms O'Shea uses the words "responsible for the deaths of many children". I appreciate that she shows a lot of passion in her campaign which I fully respect, but I am extremely uncomfortable with the statement made and will tell her why. I have no...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: National Paediatric Hospital: Discussion (27 Oct 2016)
Louise O'Reilly: Before Dr. Sheehan begins, will the witnesses specifically address the issue of timing? My understanding is - and I ask the witnesses to correct me if I am wrong about this - that planning permission has not yet been received for the maternity hospital. I ask the witnesses to factor in an assumption of planning permission. We are all speaking about tri-location, but what is being proposed...

Louise O'Reilly: Shame on Deputy Mattie McGrath.
- Public Sector Pay: Motion [Private Members] (8 Nov 2016)
Louise O'Reilly: I sincerely hope that those Deputies who will not support our motion will put their hand in their pockets and use their €100 a week to buy a bit of brasso for their brass necks. This is exactly what people will think when watching us this evening. They will see people who earn €87,000 a year and who lecture pensioners and tell them to be grateful for a fiver accept a...

- An Bille um an gCúigiú Leasú is Tríocha ar an mBunreacht (Uisce faoi Úinéireacht Phoiblí) (Uimh. 2) 2016: An Dara Céim [Comhaltaí Príobháideacha] - Thirty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution (Water in Public Ownership) (No. 2) Bill 2016: Second Stage [Private Members] (9 Nov 2016)
Louise O'Reilly: It is welcome that everybody supports the Bill and I thank Deputy Joan Collins for using her Private Members' time to bring it forward. I will, first, address the fact that there is a fundamental lack of trust in the Government on this issue. Legislation aside, people believe access to water is a fundamental and basic human right and they are reluctant to take at its word a Government...

This is relevant specifically in respect of the...

- Select Committee on the Future of Healthcare: Integration of Health and Social Care: St. Patrick's Mental Health Services (9 Nov 2016)
Louise O'Reilly: That funding model is incredibly difficult to achieve. That is the point I was making: it is easy to commission a bed because of the per diemrate that applies but commissioning the services and the way in which that is done is where the real challenge lies. If St. Patrick's has that information, we would be grateful to receive it.
