- Departmental Expenditure. (6 Feb 2008)
Enda Kenny: What is the cost of the communications unit in the Taoiseach's Department? If I recall correctly, a number of weeks ago the Taoiseach said that one of the fundamental reasons for having the unit in his Department was that it cut out the requirement on other Departments to collect information. Yet questions tabled in the last two weeks clearly pointed out an extraordinary amount of money...

- Ireland-US Relations. (6 Feb 2008)
Enda Kenny: I wish to ask three questions. I am acutely aware of the complexity of the whole immigration business and agree it will not be possible to address it unless there is all-round agreement on both sides. I received a letter from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 29 January, in which he said that on the ground in Washington on a daily basis the ambassador and the personnel there are in...
- Order of Business (6 Feb 2008)
Enda Kenny: I recognise that on occasion there is a requirement for a Minister to attend abroad on international business or otherwise. This may well require that while the Minister attends, a Deputy fills in for him or her at Question Time. However, it appears quite a number of claims for rotation of parliamentary questions are being made. This is only a six-week session. While I understand this...

Enda Kenny: I wish to ask the Taoiseach three questions. I see reports of threats concerning the so-called Real IRA. Is the Government aware of these and is the Taoiseach taking action under the appropriate legislation to deal with any consequences that may arise? No. 43 on the list, the education (patronage) Bill, is an important development in the future governance and management of the country's...

Enda Kenny: First, the country is in safe hands today. All the boys and girls are up in Dundalk. I remember with great clarity the day the former Progressive Democrats candidate handed in his letter of acceptance to Fianna Fáil and said "This is the happiest day of my life". Here he is in charge of the nation.

Enda Kenny: While I have been giving out about his boss, I congratulate the Minister, Deputy Cullen, today on having the reins of power in the House of Parliament. We all know the country is in safe hands. As a former Minister for Transport, will he give the House an update on the position in so far as the roll-out of speed cameras is concerned under the appropriate legislation? I understand that the...

- Order of Business (7 Feb 2008)
Enda Kenny: Yesterday evening during Private Members' business, Deputy O'Mahony read an e-mail into the record while Deputy O'Dowd read a letter into the record. The Ceann Comhairle asked both who the letter and e-mail were from. During my time in the House, I have never heard any of his predecessors ask a Member who a letter he or she was referring to was from. Is this a new precedent?

Enda Kenny: I thank the Government for making time available for statements on the murder of Paul Quinn. I pay tribute to the Christian courage shown by Stephen and Briege Quinn since the loss of their son. I recently met Mr. and Mrs. Quinn in Castleblayney. Briege Quinn was the first person to say there should be no retaliation for the loss of her son because her wish was to see justice for...
