- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board and Children's Health Ireland: Discussion (22 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: Thank you, Ms Nugent. What is the nature of the relationship between Temple Street public hospital and Temple Street private clinic? Is there any relationship between those in terms of a lease agreement? Does Temple Street private clinic lease premises from Temple Street public hospital? Is there any situation where public funds are used, whether that is secretarial or anything else, in...
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board and Children's Health Ireland: Discussion (22 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: I ask the witnesses to follow up on the piece around the legal costs. There seems to be some ambiguity between what is in the C and AG’s report versus what has been said here today, that if the CHI instigated a mediation process, incurred legal costs associated with that process, and the person was still employed in the role. I would appreciate clarity if there were legal fees...

- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board and Children's Health Ireland: Discussion (22 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: In 2022, €19 million was announced by the Minister specifically with regard to scoliosis and spinal surgeries. I was expecting that to be crystallised in the 2023 accounts. Was it? Will Ms Nugent very briefly tell us how that was spent? Was it spent directly on surgeries? Has CHI received that funding?
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board and Children's Health Ireland: Discussion (22 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: I will find that publicly. I have a third question regarding CHI. There were reports last year of additional halo-gravity traction wheelchairs. Has CHI purchased any more and how many are available to CHI and the children in the service?
- Public Accounts Committee: National Paediatric Hospital Development Board and Children's Health Ireland: Discussion (22 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: I thank Mr. Gunning and his colleagues for their time this morning. Are there any vacancies on the board? Has the board had an opportunity to reflect on the learnings? If it were day one tomorrow, would the board do anything differently overall with this significant infrastructure project?
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Childcare Services (27 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: I thank the Acting Chair for sitting so late. I also thank the Minister of State for her time here this evening. County Kildare is in desperate need of the Government's attention. Despite being the fifth most populated local authority area in the State, with a population four times larger than our neighbours in Carlow, we rarely receive the appropriate national attention required. ...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Childcare Services (27 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: I thank the Minister of State for that comprehensive reply, which I appreciate. I am certainly struck by the piece regarding the forward planning model, which is something I and other colleagues on the children committee will be looking for more detail on. It would add breadth and meat to the bones of how the programme for Government is going to achieve its ambitious targets with regard to...

- Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (28 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: After the Government was formed, the new Department of Education and Youth brought youth over from what was a very busy Department. In the main, this was met with positive feedback from youth workers on the ground. As the Taoiseach knows, youth and youth affairs have transitioned between many Departments over the years. Let us hope that its new home becomes something of a permanent move. ...
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (29 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: Could we write to the regulator seeking clarity as to whether there was a capacity review and whether this is the project referred to on page 2 of the report, on which Pobal did a scoping exercise, and whether the committee can get the costs associated with that project?
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (29 May 2025)
Aidan Farrelly: I seek clarification on the extent of noncompliance. Were the projects fully delivered and were any issues raised relating to the contractors, particularly in regard to Version 1, which is on the list quite often? Can we seek clarification from the Department, first, on whether all these projects were fully delivered within budget and then whether there were any issues with the suppliers?
