Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Aircraft Noise (Dublin Airport) Regulation Bill 2018: Committee Stage (16 Jan 2019)

Ruth Coppinger: I am not going to labour the point because we have made all of the points that need to be made about health and noise. I do not imagine the Minister is seriously suggesting we would be kicked out of the European Union if we were to add this provision. Is he? The idea that we must keep something that is 17 years old and cannot update it when we are bringing forward new legislation is farcical.

Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Aircraft Noise (Dublin Airport) Regulation Bill 2018: Committee Stage (16 Jan 2019)

Ruth Coppinger: The whole issue of health and noise is important. It sounds farcical to say we cannot add or strengthen EU regulations. This can be dealt with in several ways by the proposer. Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (17 Jan 2019)

Ruth Coppinger: A main maternity hospital in the capital city of this country is refusing this woman her constitutional right when two doctors certify what is very clearly a fatal foetal abnormality. It would seem that it is because of the chilling effect of criminalisation that maternity hospitals are acting in this way. It should not be forgotten that the Rotunda is only enforcing the law to 11 weeks, a...
