Terry Leyden: It does not matter if the ambassador is living in a small apartment. He or she does not need to live in Villa Spada which could be used by the Irish Embassy to Italy. We have two ambassadors in France, one in Paris and the other in Strasbourg dealing with the Council of Europe.

Terry Leyden: There are more than 1 billion Catholics in the world giving allegiance to the Holy See. Ireland must have a permanent representative in the Vatican. I, therefore, urge the Government to reverse its decision. No matter how long it takes, the Fianna Fáil Party will ensure it is reversed, either by the Government or it as part of the next Government.
