Leaders' Questions (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: This represents the hypocrisy of Government. The Taoiseach promised a White Paper, before the sale of Aer Lingus, to deal with the regional strategic objectives and he has been completely blindsided in this matter. A major decision such as this, commercial or otherwise, would not have gone ahead without the tacit approval of Government.

Leaders' Questions (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: It would certainly not have gone ahead without reference to the board. When discussions took place about the development of an all-Ireland economy I am quite sure they referred to this issue, at least in some form. The Taoiseach has not answered the question as to how the removal of the Shannon-Heathrow slots protects the strategic interests his Government specifically outlined as the...

Leaders' Questions (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: What is the legal position?

Leaders' Questions (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: Deliberate.

Appointments to State Boards. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: Question 1: To ask the Taoiseach the appointments made by him since June 2002 to the State Boards, or other agencies under his aegis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16808/07]

Appointments to State Boards. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: The Taoiseach said recently that membership of Fianna Fáil does not disqualify persons from being appointed to State boards. Was Mr. Joseph Burke re-appointed to the chairmanship of Dublin Port on the basis of his friendship with the Taoiseach or on the basis of merit and experience? His company specialised in refurbishing public houses and employed 16 people in north Dublin. The High...

Standards in Public Office. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: Question 4: To ask the Taoiseach if he has plans to amend the code of conduct for office holders; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16810/07]

Standards in Public Office. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: Is a copy of the code of conduct available in the Oireachtas Library for Members to read the rules of the code as they currently obtain? I note the Minister for Defence, Deputy O'Dea, apologised to a lady in Limerick for remarks he made. I am sure the Taoiseach accepts that this is the proper response from the Minister who therefore must have said something akin to what was reported. We...

Standards in Public Office. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: The Taoiseach speaks of school friends making personal loans or making moneys available. I am not sure if he used the term, "dodgy people" or "dodgy issues".

Standards in Public Office. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: That is fine. One of those people who made a contribution, Mr. O'Connor, made it on the basis that it was for the Fianna Fáil Party. He said publicly he was not a personal friend of the Taoiseach. How does that tie in with the other school friends who made personal contributions to the Taoiseach?

Dublin-Monaghan Bombings. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: Question 7: To ask the Taoiseach the costs which have accrued to his Department in respect of the MacEntee inquiry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16812/07]

Dublin-Monaghan Bombings. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: Question 8: To ask the Taoiseach when he next expects to receive a report from the MacEntee inquiry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16813/07]

Dublin-Monaghan Bombings. (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: Is the Taoiseach aware of how unhappy the Justice for the Forgotten group is at the fact there was little discussion or substantive investigation into what is contained in the report with reference to the man in the Four Courts Hotel? Is he aware that any evidence available to the State was made available in this regard? Will the Taoiseach comment on whether it is a State security matter?...

Death of Former Member: Expressions of Sympathy (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: I join the Taoiseach in extending the commiserations of the Fine Gael Party to all Seán Keegan's Fianna Fáil colleagues, and particularly to his wife Mary and family members who are here. Many people in the current Dáil will not remember Seán Keegan. When we look back through the Dáil records and see the names of those who served in this House from whatever part of the country or...

Order of Business (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: In respect of the legislation that will be necessary for the referendum on the EU reform treaty, has the Taoiseach had discussions with the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, in regard to the Government's decision to opt in or out of certain provisions? I made my view known on this yesterday. When is the forthcoming constituency commission report expected to be published? Information on...

Order of Business (10 Oct 2007)

Enda Kenny: The Taoiseach can take it that I will make a request for a formal debate, which could probably be held on Tuesday next. There seems to be a particular attitude or perception emanating from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. The former Minister, Mr. McDowell, had a particular view of the common law versus the civil law and for that reason he was stringently opposed to opting...
