- Seanad: Animal Health and Welfare and Forestry (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2021: Committee Stage (Resumed) (3 Mar 2022)
Lynn Boylan: I do not know whether it is because spring is in the air but this week in the House we have agreed on many issues, such as offering solidarity to Ukraine and today with Linda Ervine. The Minister can hear there is a united front on addressing concerns for workers and farmers and the compensation scheme. He can also hear from everybody who is speaking that we are all desperately trying to...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Energy - Ambition and Challenges: Discussion (1 Mar 2022)
Lynn Boylan: I thought I was not going to get in at all. Most of my questions have been answered. I echo what Senator Higgins said regarding our concerns about the designated protected marine areas and how we will square that circle in terms of those of us who want to deliver on the carbon budgets but also want to protect our biodiversity, and getting that balance right so biodiversity is not the...

- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (8 Mar 2022)
Lynn Boylan: I want to raise the Electricity Costs (Domestic Electricity Accounts) Emergency Measures Bill which the President signed into the law at the weekend. I have no doubt that the money off electricity bills will be welcomed by many people across the country who are struggling with their energy costs. However, during the Committee Stage debate on the Bill I flagged my concern that the Government...

- Seanad: Sea-Fisheries (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2021: Report and Final Stages (8 Mar 2022)
Lynn Boylan: Cuirim fáilte roimh an Aire Stáit. On Committee Stage, we outlined Sinn Féin's objection to the Bill, in that it is unfair to fishing communities because they cannot expunge the points they are given if they go to court. All of those issues were debated on Committee Stage, and unfortunately the Minister would not take on board our concerns. The amendments we have submitted...
- Seanad: Sea-Fisheries (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2021: Report and Final Stages (8 Mar 2022)
Lynn Boylan: I am not going to labour the point because this Bill was debated at length in the Dáil. As I said, Sinn Féin has, from the outset, fundamentally disagreed with the approach that is being taken because it is deeply unfair on small Irish fishing fleets. We know the amendments will not be accepted but we will press them.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Energy - Ambition and Challenges: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Mar 2022)
Lynn Boylan: I have a brief follow-up question. I welcome what Mr. Coyle said about An Bord Pleanála being properly resourced. He made reference to Scotland and seals and propellers. Is there similar evidence for cetaceans? One of the fears is not even the wind farm itself but the construction of the wind farm, the sonar and noise under the water for whales and dolphins. We heard from the Wind...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Energy - Ambition and Challenges: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Mar 2022)
Lynn Boylan: My questions are for the Department of Finance. I will pick up on the concerns the Chair raised on the EU taxonomy. What sort of risk analysis has been done on the provisions of the Energy Charter Treaty to which Ireland is a signatory? The Department of Finance officials said it was an evolving process and gas may change over time but once an investor comes and is set up, the investor...
