Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32 (5 Mar 2009)

Terence Flanagan: I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the Government to recognise the enormous work carried out by carers and to proceed with the national carer's strategy as soon as possible. The decision to abandon drafting that strategy is short-sighted and shameful.

Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2008: Second Stage. (5 Mar 2009)

Terence Flanagan: I welcome the opportunity to speak on this Bill, which is long overdue. I welcome it but note it is deficient in many areas. During the course of my contribution I will outline some amendments which I request the Minister of State to take on board before...

Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2008: Second Stage. (5 Mar 2009)

Terence Flanagan: In conclusion, housing is a right of everyone and the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill includes innovative measures in respect of various schemes. Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2008: Second Stage. (5 Mar 2009)

Terence Flanagan: After ten years in office, the Government will leave behind many legacies. While the Minister of State has not been in office for all that time, one issue that will not be forgiven pertains to talking up the property market. More than 100,000 people now find themselves in negative equity and they will not forget. I look forward to debating the further Stages of the Bill.

Planning Issues. (11 Mar 2009)
