Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Regulation of Nursing Homes and Development of a New Model of Care for Older People: Discussion (23 Mar 2021)

Seán Crowe: We heard stories from many families and nursing home staff, particularly earlier in the pandemic, that they felt abandoned. There was the lack of PPE and so on. Again we are hearing stories in the media of a possible tsunami of cases, litigation cases and so on. Is the HSE picking up that information? Has there been any discussions in that regard?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: Regulation of Nursing Homes and Development of a New Model of Care for Older People: Discussion (23 Mar 2021)

Seán Crowe: I thank all of our witnesses. Some disturbing evidence was heard today about what was happening in nursing homes. The idea of waiting years for powers to investigate neglect and abuse is concerning. I hear what the witnesses are saying in that we are in a process that is dealing with that. There will be recommendations coming from the committee that we need to act on that much more...

Ceathrú Chultúir 1916 Bill 2021: Second Stage [Private Members] (24 Mar 2021)

Seán Crowe: Successive Governments and local authorities have appalling records of preserving our heritage. From Georgian Dublin to the cottages of the west, we are more than happy to allow developers to buy up whatever artefacts of our history they like and then tear them down with JCBs. We saw that most recently with the house of The O'Rahilly, which pulled down to make way for a hotel. Will we see...

We have one matter of business to address before I call the witnesses to present to the committee. Apologies have been received from Senator Annie Hoey. Can I take it that the draft minutes of the meetings, public and private, of...
