Neasa Hourigan: If we are getting to the point where we are putting dates on things, I request the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine be high on the list of bodies to get a firm date. There are a number of issues now and I think it is a year since the Department last appeared before us.

Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (2 Mar 2023)

Neasa Hourigan: I want to raise one point. In regard to what happened this morning, and in the context of what happened last week, it seems to me that we were told something last week by a Department official that was patently incorrect, as the witness today told us. Like many State bodies, the Prison Service is struggling to get to a more modern system, but I want to unpick it a bit. Who is responsible for recording those data? How could they be recorded in a more efficacious way if we had best practice?
