This is about cases where caring stops after a parent has passed away and carers are coming back into the system. I ask the Minister to examine this so that people can come back into the system and not be...

Colm Burke: This week there was announcement in Cork by a company that it intends to carry out a €350 million development in the docklands area. Part of that development comprises a 130-bed rehabilitation hospital. We have been looking for an elective hospital in Cork for a number of years and we still have not identified a site for that hospital. This year, we have 200 fewer beds available in...

Chapter 6 - Covid-19 Restart Grant Schemes (18 Nov 2021) Colm Burke: I want to follow up on the point made by Deputy Verona Murphy about permits for people coming in from abroad. There are certain key areas where we have difficulty in filling jobs. I know the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment was involved with the meat industry through the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. In the healthcare sector, for example, we have a...

Chapter 6 - Covid-19 Restart Grant Schemes (18 Nov 2021) Colm Burke: I know nurses and doctors come in but what about care assistants and people who may work in the background in kitchens and cleaning facilities etc.? My understanding from nursing homes is that they have had a very poor response from the Department of Health on this type of assistance. We have seen an increase in nursing staff and doctors but not in care assistants or in other areas.

Chapter 6 - Covid-19 Restart Grant Schemes (18 Nov 2021) Colm Burke: I spoke earlier about value for money. Do any substantial changes need to be made in view of the fact that Covid-19 has brought huge changes? There is also the issue of the UK no longer being part of the European Union.
