Order of Business (10 Jul 2013)

Gerry Adams: I understand the Minister for Justice and Equality is still considering this. The Taoiseach gave a commitment to come back in a fortnight and, while we cannot hold him to that as he is, of course, very busy, this involves a small number of people who are mostly elderly and frail. I wonder if it could be done before the recess.

Order of Business (10 Jul 2013)

Gerry Adams: Go raibh maith agat.

Business of Dáil (10 Jul 2013)

Gerry Adams: I am not going to oppose the Government on this, but we discussed this at our group meeting earlier on, and the case was made that there is no provision for the staff. There had to be an intervention earlier on to have a break. There are many women here who have children and who came in this morning at 7.30 a.m. It is a big argument for changing the way we work this institution.

Business of Dáil: Motion (10 Jul 2013)

Gerry Adams: I have no problem being here. My family is in Belfast, and it does not matter to me. However, there are staff and Members here and this is not the way to do business. I appeal to the Taoiseach to honour the commitment he gave to reform this House so it works properly.

Leaders' Questions (16 Jul 2013)

Gerry Adams: Last night was the fourth night of recent violence in the North. Police officers have been attacked by rioters still wearing their orange regalia. Many police officers have been injured. There were attacks last night, including bomb and petrol bomb attacks on St. Matthew's Church and on homes in the Short Strand. Violence from any quarter must be condemned and deplored but what we are...

Leaders' Questions (16 Jul 2013)

Gerry Adams: I thank the Taoiseach for his answer. I know that there are lots of worries and responsibilities upon the Government at this time but these issues must be continuously worked at. It is all relative. The violence was quite localised; it was only in Belfast. It is disastrous for people who live in those small terraced houses in what are called interface areas to live under that constant...
