Seanad: Order of Business. (21 Sep 2011)

Mark Daly: We are asking for the same thing you are asking for yourself. Do not give out to us; we are following you.

Seanad: Arts Plan: Statements (21 Sep 2011)

Mark Daly: It is great to see the Minister in this House. I am aware of his passion and work for the arts over many years as a Deputy in north Kerry. Not only does he assist projects, but he spearheads them. I heard his comments about the match and we can obviously console ourselves.

Seanad: Arts Plan: Statements (21 Sep 2011)

Mark Daly: I am delighted to be on the committee on the 2016 celebrations which is chaired by the Minister. What can we do in the arts area in the run up to the 2016 celebrations? I am aware of proposals such as the freedom trail. The Minister is spearheading a task force that will go around the country. Can he outline to the House what will be done? Also, we have some cultural ambassadors, the...

Seanad: Order of Business (28 Sep 2011)

Mark Daly: I support Senator Cullinane in his call to examine the system of government and how we seem to be heading towards a democratic deficit. The local government efficiency implementation body met on 9 September and will meet again on 17 October. It sends reports to the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government without scrutiny by this House or the Dáil. It is changing the...

Seanad: Order of Business (28 Sep 2011)

Mark Daly: I ask her to ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to come to the House and explain why we have a democratic deficit in this country which the Government proposes, not to bridge, but to widen.

Mark Daly: We will support that one.

Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)

Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)

Mark Daly: We look forward to discovering whether the Minister invited himself to Blanchardstown.

Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)

Mark Daly: It is ironic that my colleague from Kerry should be talking about publicity stunts when that is exactly what the Minister was engaged in yesterday.

Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)

Mark Daly: It is, because the amendment to the Order of Business seeks to have a debate in this House in the presence of the Minister for Health. I support Senator O'Brien in that regard. The Minister has been invited to attend the House time and again but has failed to do so. My question to the Leader is whether the Minister was invited to Blanchardstown yesterday or whether he asked to be invited.

Seanad: Order of Business (5 Oct 2011)

Mark Daly: I support the amendment.
