- Joint Committee On Health: Mental Health Services: Samaritans Ireland (5 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: That is perfect. It is just that I am very interested in this area. I think it is a good thing because, although I know it is anonymous, sometimes being able to see a face and all of that is very important. Many of our areas are so isolated that it can be very difficult, particularly with the lack of public transport, to get to urban areas to be able to sit down with somebody, if that was...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (12 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: Today, we have budget 2022, which has €87.6 billion of supports. It is there to help people get back up on their feet again after this pandemic and lockdown. For jobs, we are seeing a continuation of the wage subsidy scheme and the raising of the standard income band by over €1,500. For young families, there is the largest budget ever allocated for Housing for All. For older...
- Seanad: Budget 2022: Statements (12 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I support the Government's 2022 budget of €87.5 billion in spending announced by Minister for Finance, Deputy Donohoe. All the steps the Government took to protect people's lives and income through the pandemic unemployment pay and the temporary wage subsidy scheme have now proven to be effective in saving jobs. Close to 0.5 million people were in receipt of the pandemic unemployment...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (14 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: As somebody who grew up and worked on a farm, I thank the Minister of State, Senator Hackett, for highlighting International Day of Rural Women. My mother was a powerful force on our farm and 30-odd years ago she was probably the only woman in the mart able to reverse a tractor and trailer. That is changing, however. I was involved in the visit of the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the...
- Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Addiction Services: Discussion (13 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome our speakers online and in the committee room. Some of the statistics and impacts mentioned have been shocking, particularly in the areas in which the witnesses are experts. I thank Ms Leonard from Alcohol Forum Ireland, Mr. Greaves, co-ordinator with Ballymun local drugs and alcohol task force, and Mr. Cooney, senior addiction councillor at the Rutland Centre. They have given a...
- Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Addiction Services: Discussion (13 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: What is strong with Mr. Greaves's group is that he mentioned it is a mix of residents, a task force, which is dealing with associations and local representatives. Promoting those areas might be strong for their local community as well.

- Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Addiction Services: Discussion (13 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I was just reading while Mr. Greaves was speaking and I remembered he said how the task force connected with walk-and-talk sessions and balcony chats. I thought that was so innovative. It really got out there and into the communities. I thank him for all that work.
- Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Addiction Services: Discussion (13 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I think my time might be up and I am conscious that we must allow other speakers in. I know Ms Leonard is very passionate about the topic. Indeed there are high levels of poverty and disadvantage in my own area so it is fairly crucial. E-health, or how we engage with people using telehealth, will be so important. We need to maintain webinars and online access, particularly for rural areas.
- Joint Committee On Health: Impact of Covid-19 on Addiction Services: Discussion (13 Oct 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I thank Dr. McMonagle. I appreciate it. I apologise for interrupting. Time is tight. Research pilots are crucial here. Funding does not just arrive automatically for multidisciplinary groups. We need to show the evidence behind it. I ask for a response at a later stage about what groups are engaging with universities within our departments of health, nursing and so on with regard to...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (2 Nov 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister's approval for the new Connacht-Ulster technological university for the west. This is an incredible achievement by the presidents, staff and students of the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Letterkenny IT and IT Sligo. The new university will have eight campuses located in Killybegs, Letterkenny, Sligo, Castlebar, two locations in Galway city, Letterfrack and the...
- Seanad: Energy Security: Statements (2 Nov 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister, Deputy Ryan, to the Seanad today. It is great to have him here to speak about security of our energy supply, which is so crucial. In his opening statement, the Minister spoke about some of the challenges we face, such as the closure of stations, power stations not coming online and the impact of geopolitics. Energy security is defined as the uninterrupted...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (3 Nov 2021)
Aisling Dolan: After a decade of fundraising, coffee mornings, tractor runs, quizzes, cycles and marathon runs by clubs, schools, businesses and everyone, the Mayo Roscommon hospice, in Roscommon, will be officially launched this Friday. It is due to incredible fundraising over decades. It is phenomenal. The hospice will cost an estimated €6 million to complete and is an eight-bed inpatient unit...
- Seanad: Public Transport: Motion (3 Nov 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Naughton, to the Seanad. We met recently in Athlone at the launch of the new bridge across the River Shannon connecting the east to the west for the Dublin to Galway cycleway. In fact, as the Minister of State mentioned on the day, we will be able to cycle from Moscow to Galway. This is an incredible piece of infrastructure that shows the progress of...
- Seanad: Bille na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2019: An Dara Céim - Official Languages (Amendment) Bill 2019: Second Stage (10 Nov 2021)
Aisling Dolan: Cuirim fáilte roimh Aire Stáit na Gaeltachta. Feabhsóidh Bille na Teangacha Oifigiúla (Leasú), 2019 seirbhísí poiblí trí Ghaeilge agus tabharfaidh sé tacaíocht do chainteoirí Gaeilge. Tá mé ag tnúth go mór leis an gcoiste comhairleach um sheirbhísí Gaeilge. Mar a dúirt an tAire Stáit,...

Aisling Dolan: This is Science Week, which takes place from 7 to 14 November. Creating our Future is a national conversation that is taking place. It has been great to see the broadcasters going to towns around the country in a few key areas trying to get good feedback from the public about current research that is taking place. We have had virtual Science Week with magicians and scientists and events...
- Seanad: Forestry Licensing: Statements (11 Nov 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Hackett. We are quite close in location and she is conscious of the serious concerns on this topic. A forestry company, in which people are employed, is working in Ballinasloe and is struggling. It is dealing with farmers and its clients. What can it do? It is stuck in no man's land. I met with them during the year and last year and we have raised...

Aisling Dolan: That is it.
- Seanad: Science Week: Statements (11 Nov 2021)
Aisling Dolan: I welcome the Minister to the House on this great week, Science Week. I was speaking earlier this morning about the activities that are going on for Science Week and I might mention some of them because they have astounded me. I was wishing we had Science Week when I was in school. Our Science Week involved the things we did around Hallowe'en and crazy experiments we came up with. Science...
