Dermot Ahern: I am informed by the Garda authorities that there are currently 66 personnel attached to the Garda Central Vetting Unit (GCVU). The current average time for the processing of correctly completed vetting application forms is approximately four weeks, and the Central Vetting Unit dealt with 187,864 applications in 2007, the latest year for which a full-year figure is available.
