Josepha Madigan: In his evidence, Mr. Long said that it was "not Lazard's place" to advise on the sales process. Those were his exact words. However, Mr. Daly, in his opening statement, stated that Lazard advised NAMA that there was sufficient competitive tension in the process with the remaining two bidders. That is a direct conflict.

This seems to me to have been a major factor in applying a high discount rate to the portfolio's valuation. The Comptroller and Auditor General told us that he sought evidence of these deteriorating relationships but did not get any....
