John Perry: The project in question has a cost of €3.5 million and is intended to address an issue of health and safety. It is unacceptable in the 21st century to have a building that is not accessible to students who use wheelchairs. It does not involve constructing a new building but linking one campus to another. I hope the delegates will do their best to advance it.

John Perry: The Chairman raised the case of Danny Byrne and theSkifjordand the correspondence that was sent, which he raised on numerous occasions regarding the Ombudsman's report. It is a shocking indictment that, despite the report, the money has never been settled with the family concerned.

John Perry: It has been going on for five years. A clear precedent was set. It went to the European Parliament. The father was lost at sea off Donegal and a ruling was given that the family was not eligible for the lost at sea scheme. The Chairman knows the case very well. It is a major injustice that it has not been dealt with over the past four or five years.
