Mairéad Farrell: Cé go bhfuilimid ag plé le cúrsaí Gaeltachta, ós rud é go bhfuilimid ag plé le cúrsaí na hoileáin amach ón gcósta chomh maith, tá mé ag iarraidh díreach a rá leis an Aire arís faoi Inis Bó Finne. Teastaíonn meánscoil ann. Tá a fhios agam go bhfuilimid ag plé le cúrsaí...

Financial Resolutions 2024 - Financial Resolution No. 5: General (Resumed) (2 Oct 2024)

Mairéad Farrell: It is unfortunate that the Minister has left. When it comes to apprentices, we hear a lot of waffle in this Chamber, every time the topic is brought up. I am shocked that the Minister has left and is not here to discuss the real need for support for apprentices. Yesterday, we heard about a 33% reduction in apprenticeship fees. It is the exact same thing that was there last year. It does...

Mairéad Farrell: I was contacted by an 89-year-old woman who has mobility issues and using a car is her only way to get around and out of the house. She appealed the decision but, incredulously, she was told she...

Mairéad Farrell: Gabhaim buíochas leis an Aire as ucht teacht os comhair an choiste. I have limited time to try to find out some things I did not fully understand from the budget, if that is possible. I want to understand what money is being deployed where and that kind of thing. I will start with the €77.4 million investment for apprenticeships. All investment in apprenticeships is obviously...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills: Current and Future Plans for Further and Higher Education: Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (9 Oct 2024)

Mairéad Farrell: It seems that if there were 6,500 craft registrations in 2023, and then we talk about budget 2025 where we see continued growth to 6,800, it just does not seem an ambitious figure.
