Seán Sherlock: As long as they meet the conditions, yes, absolutely. There is an understanding that people who come into the country put down roots and have families. They are embedded in the community. Should the relationship break down, there is a sense that it will be dealt with humanely, allowing for all factors to be taken into consideration.
