Vote 28 - Foreign Affairs and Trade (24 Jun 2021) Imelda Munster: I want to get back to the passport backlog. Responses to parliamentary questions indicate that at the end of April, there were approximately 89,000 backlogged applications, with approximately 16,000 processed by 4 May. The Minister stated last Tuesday week that the backlog was on track to be cleared by the end of June. Is that still the case?

Vote 28 - Foreign Affairs and Trade (24 Jun 2021) Imelda Munster: That is less than one fifth of the backlog of 104,000, which leaves 84,000. I ask this question because the Minister stated last week that 37,000 of the 89,000 had been processed and would be cleared by the end of June. Given that the backlog is even larger now, I suspect that it will more likely be the end of July or August before the backlog is cleared.
