- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Office of Government Procurement (14 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: I want to ask the Minister about his role in selecting the chief procurement officer and if the CEO and the Office of Government Procurement will have a future role in the management of the costs at the proposed new national children's hospital. Can he make a statement on the matter?
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Office of Government Procurement (14 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: He will have no role in the future, but he certainly had a role in the past for which we will pay very dearly, such as the lack of a primary healthcare centre in Drimnagh and other capital expenditure projects over the next period. Will the Minister have a role in selecting his replacement on the board of the national children's hospital?
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Office of Government Procurement (14 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: If the Government delivered it on time and soon, I would not protest against it. It is now November and we were promised that it would be built some time ago. An application has been submitted to extend planning permission. If that is granted, I would like an answer from the Minister and HSE as to when building will actually start. We need the primary healthcare centre, not the evasive...
- Ceisteanna Eile - Other Questions: Office of Government Procurement (14 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: I did not say I would not accept an answer from the Minister. Rather, I said I did not believe he would answer my question and I would instead get some obfuscation instead of a "Yes" or "No" answer on whether the centre would be built. That is what I believe. We will see what the answer is when the Minister receives it. If I get an answer telling me that it will or will not be built, I...

- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (19 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: Last night, I attended the campaign launch of the People Before Profit candidate in Wexford, Cinnamon Blackmore. It was a good meeting, with many women there, and I heard about the issues that affect the people of Wexford. What jumped out at me was the complete lack of mental health services for children, and the crisis that most of the women in the room had experienced or their families...
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (19 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: I asked a question which the Taoiseach did not answer, namely, how high his bar is when it comes to his candidate playing the race card. In the same interview, Ms Murphy claimed that ISIS may have infiltrated three year olds who come to this country. My nieces and nephews live in the Taoiseach's neck of the woods and do not experience racism in their schools in Mulhuddart and...
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (19 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: Now she is spouting lies which will scapegoat minorities. Should that escalate, as leader of the country, it will be on the shoulders of the Taoiseach. I ask him to please answer my question. How high is his bar against racism in his party?
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (19 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: That is tolerating it.
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (19 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: Shame on the Taoiseach for not deselecting this woman. It is outrageous what she is doing.
- Ceisteanna ó Cheannairí - Leaders' Questions (19 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: It clarifies that it is a personal issue.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Supporting a Just Transition: Discussion (Resumed) (20 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: I thank the witnesses for their contributions. It is important that they are here. Ms King spoke about the moral and social imperative for policymakers to ensure that the workers in Bord na Móna, and their communities, do not become collateral damage in this process. I assume she was addressing us when making those comments and she was suggesting that this committee has a moral and...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Supporting a Just Transition: Discussion (Resumed) (20 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: If those senior people in Bord na Móna are becoming more entrenched in their view not to go to the WRC, the Minister has spent the past eight weeks obfuscating and not telling them to do so and we have a moral and social imperative to ensure these workers are not dumped on the scrapheap, should this committee write to the Minister? Should we state that, as a result of our discussions...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action: Supporting a Just Transition: Discussion (Resumed) (20 Nov 2019)
Bríd Smith: That should be one of the outcomes of today's meeting. We have repeatedly heard how crucial and urgent it is that this matter be addressed. I agree with Ms King on that. If the Minister refuses to tell Bord na Móna to engage and if the company remains resolute in its opposition to entering talks in the WRC, what course of action is left to ICTU, the unions, the workers and their...
