Martin Ferris: I move amendment No. 3: In page 6, line 25, to delete "0.1 hectare" and substitute "0.5 hectares and five metres in height".I am conscious of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation definition of forest area, which is "land spanning more than 0.5 hectares with trees higher than 5 metres". The Bill states 0.1 hectares but the advice I have been given is that it should be 0.5...

Select Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine: Forestry Bill 2013: Committee Stage (25 Feb 2014)

Martin Ferris: I do not know if that is true. Does the Minister of State have figures for these woodlands? We are either part of the FAO or we are not. If the FAO's definition is 0.5 hectares, I cannot understand why we should try to be different.
