Paul Lawless: In terms of a happy medium when it comes to approach, was there any consideration at Department level as regards the targeted advisory service on animal health, the TASAH scheme whereby a vet could prescribe non-therapeutics at a particular point and then allow, for example, the farmer to purchase the medicines wherever he sees fit? Was that ever considered in this regard?

Paul Lawless: Going back to the points about the monopoly of the market, there are concerns here that the large players in the market, who I will not mention, could potentially monopolise this market in the sense that we could actually take the business away from the vets themselves and open the door for such a system to come into play.
