Seanad: Order of Business. (22 Jun 2004)

Eddie Bohan: I support Senator Leyden's request for a review of the smoking ban. I am not against the ban, neither are the people I represent, but the manner in which it is being implemented is causing much grief to the licensed trade. We might also review the penalty points system, whereby it seems half the country, including me, when I was caught travelling at 54 mph in a 50 mph zone, is getting penalty...

Seanad: Order of Business. (22 Jun 2004)

Eddie Bohan: It is purely a way of collecting money and has nothing to do with the free flow of traffic. The NCT organisation——

Seanad: Order of Business. (22 Jun 2004)

Seanad: Order of Business. (22 Jun 2004)

Eddie Bohan: Over-regulation is driving citizens mad and it is time such regulations were reviewed. Will the Leader try to do something about the issue?

Seanad: Order of Business. (13 Jul 2004)

Eddie Bohan: Will the Leader invite the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources here to explain why the cost of electricity has increased by approximately 13%? The ESB cites oil prices as the reason for this but it pays for oil in dollars. The euro and the dollar were almost on par up to a year or so ago. The ESB has saved over 20% on the purchase of oil because it is paying in dollars....

Seanad: Intoxicating Liquor Bill 2004: Second Stage (Resumed). (13 Oct 2004)

Eddie Bohan: I welcome the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy McDowell, to the House. I congratulate him on this Bill which expeditiously clears up the grey area that emerged when he was put in an awkward position between the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions. When I spoke on Committee Stage of the Intoxicating Liquor Bill, I appealed to the Minister to extend the...

Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Dec 2004)

Eddie Bohan: Will the Leader bring to the attention of the appropriate Minister the increased charges on toll bridges, particularly the M50? It is an outrage that the people managing the tolls are allowed to increase the charges by at least 20% when inflation is running at approximately 2.5%.

Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Dec 2004)

Eddie Bohan: Those toll bridges have been paid for several times over.

Seanad: Order of Business. (14 Dec 2004)

Eddie Bohan: It is absolute greed and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. The unfortunate people who must come to work in the morning and go home in the evening through those toll gates are being ripped off. I ask the Leader to bring this issue to the attention of the Minister concerned to see what can be done about it.

Seanad: Veterinary Practice Bill 2004: Committee Stage. (22 Mar 2005)

Eddie Bohan: Deregistration is automatic.

Seanad: Order of Business. (4 Jul 2006)

Eddie Bohan: Would the Leader ask the Minister for Transport about the number of people driving with provisional licences? I understand that up to 200,000 people are driving with provisional licences. Would the Minister consider an amnesty for those who have been driving for five years without being involved in accidents or experiencing problems? It is ludicrous that this number of people are driving...
