Richard Bruton: Will the Tánaiste indicate whether there is a proposal in the programme for Government to address Ireland's declining competitiveness? Today we read in the newspapers that gas prices are to go up. They are already out of line with those in other countries. A very diligent shopper in my area priced nine common grocery items.

Richard Bruton: The difference between the price in a major supermarket in Dublin and in the UK was not 5%, 10% or 20% but 37%. There is an onus on the Minister responsible for consumer affairs and competitiveness to indicate what legislative proposals the Government has to tackle some of these issues, which are affecting households and businesses alike.
