Imelda Munster: I was curious as to what oversight there was from the Department.

Public Accounts Committee: 2019 Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts
Vote 30 - Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
(20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: I thank the Comptroller and Auditor General for clarification on the figures and the funding for CCTV, but the important factor is that the IHRB thought it was appropriate to spend money allocated to protect the integrity of the sport on an online portal system instead of CCTV that would detect doping. The Department remained indifferent to this, despite the fact that, as Mr. Gleeson has...

Public Accounts Committee: 2019 Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts
Vote 30 - Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine
(20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: With respect, given that it is seven years on from the recommendations and the Department is now saying almost seven years to the day later that some have been implemented and others will be in the future, where is the stringent oversight that ensures accountability? Why does there seem to be an absence of that? I have listened to other Deputies raise issues, and the one thing that strikes...

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: I have a number of questions for the Minister. I am looking for detail on the two outdoor dining grants. Did I hear her correctly that €12 million will be allocated to local authorities and €5 million will be allocated to the outdoor seating and accessory schemes for individual businesses?

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: I thank the Minister. How many businesses will be able to avail of these grants, according to her calculations or those of the Department? Did she research the average cost of businesses upgrading their facilities? It looks like outdoor dining will be the only option this year so many individual businesses will have to do major upgrades.

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: I am asking about the €5 million awarded for individual businesses. How many businesses will be able to avail of this, according to the Minister's calculations? Did the Department research the average cost for businesses to upgrade their facilities?

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: I am curious as to why the maximum grant is €4,000 if no research as such was carried out to find out the cost of an upgrade to individual businesses. It is likely that it will be their only option this year.

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: I am curious because I spoke to Louth County Council yesterday and the person in charge of the process did not have information as to the amount it would receive. I am curious as to how the €5 million for individual businesses throughout the State was calculated, given the pressure they are under. This is why I am asking.

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: The Minister does not know what research was done.

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: Fáilte Ireland did not forward its reasoning for the €5 million allocation.

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: I know it is welcome but there are concerns that it may not be sufficient, given the pressure that individual businesses in the hospitality sector are under at present. It would be useful to have the information. The possible increase and extension of the CRSS has been raised. In her opening statement, the Minister said the hospitality sector has borne the brunt and has been one of the...

Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht: Key Priorities for the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Discussion (20 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: It is with regard to the Minister's scheme that is similar to that proposed by my party last year because the stay and spend scheme was a bit of a disaster.

Imelda Munster: I thank the Minister.

Imelda Munster: I have a final, very quick, question. Does the Minister have an update on any progress by the Future of Media Commission? Specifically, when does she expect to have recommendations on the licensing portion of its work?

Covid-19 Vaccination Programme: Statements (22 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: The HSE recently sent out an invite to all elected representatives to visit the vaccination centres in the midlands, Louth and Meath area and there was a list of eight vaccination centres. Drogheda was No. 8 on the list but it was on the list as "to be confirmed". They still have not identified a site. In fairness, they have had ample time to do that. I have been chasing it with them....

Public Accounts Committee: 2019 Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General and Appropriation Accounts
Vote 29 - Communications, Climate Action and Environment
(27 Apr 2021)

Imelda Munster: Ms Cusack stated that RTÉ is working with the Department of Social Protection and the Revenue Commissioners. I understand they contacted RTÉ after the publication of the Eversheds Sutherland report. At what stage are the discussions and when are they expected to conclude? Is it possible that a bill will end up landing at RTÉ on foot of the State broadcaster having engaged in...
