- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement: Brexit, the Good Friday-Belfast Agreement and the Environment: Discussion (4 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I, too, thank Ms Duggan and Ms Hough. We have talked a great deal, almost ad nauseam, about Brexit and it is nice to see there is environmental co-operation. As sometimes that can fall down and it has not been part of the political discourse on both sides, I thank the delegates for providing their reports. Ms Hough recommended that the British-Irish Intergovernmental Conference would be...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement: Brexit, the Good Friday-Belfast Agreement and the Environment: Discussion (4 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: That is an issue we have been raising because we feel it is not meeting often enough and is not reaching its potential. Ms Hough also referred to a consultative civic forum.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement: Brexit, the Good Friday-Belfast Agreement and the Environment: Discussion (4 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: Most of my colleagues and I agree with Ms Hough that it is badly needed. I am not a negotiator in Stormont, but I believe it could be a way out. I am not saying it would be another house but it could be another forum that would deal with some issues.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement: Brexit, the Good Friday-Belfast Agreement and the Environment: Discussion (4 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: We had great success here on many difficult issues and that could be a success also. Ms Duggan referred to the several shared protected Natura sites. Where are the sites? What is the location of one or two of them? Is there one in Carlingford?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement: Brexit, the Good Friday-Belfast Agreement and the Environment: Discussion (4 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I thank the delegates for the reports. The environmental issue is one we overlooked. It is very worthwhile, therefore, that the reports are before the committee.
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (9 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I listened with interest to my colleague, Senator Ó Donnghaile, speak about the work of the Reverend Harold Good. I took great interest in what James Nesbitt said about a union of Ireland, namely, that he would embrace it as long as lives of the people North and South, and between the two islands, improved. We are moving into a different space now in that we are privileged to talk...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (9 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I have not finished yet. I am commending somebody who has shown leadership and courage in standing up.
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (9 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: We have the marching season during which bonfires are lit. We have the Irish flag and effigies of politicians being burned. We need to show respect for anthems and flags. Similarly, at the end of March, we see Union Jacks and poppy flags being burned. We have to ensure we provide a space for anybody - church, civil or political leaders - who is prepared to stand up and apologise for...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (9 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: Senator Devine did not hear what I said. I ask her to listen to what I said.
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (10 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I rise to congratulate and thank my good friend, Conor McGinn, a Labour Party MP in Westminster. Mr. McGinn secured an amendment to ensure that same-sex marriage would be introduced in Northern Ireland unless power sharing is restored in October. He is a great friend of Ireland. He is chair of the all–party parliamentary group on the Irish in Britain and he is involved in the...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (11 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I also wish to be associated with the messages of condolence to the Whelan family. I met Noel Whelan on numerous occasions. He certainly had his finger on the political pulse. He was very astute and was a great commentator. At election time, we really looked forward to his interpretation of what exactly was going to happen. We give our sympathies to his family and also to the family of...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance Review Group Report for the FAI Board and Sport Ireland: Sport Ireland (17 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: It is nice to be here after four months. I was also put on the ticket today to contest the next general election. I hope to be back here as a Deputy but if I am not elected, I hope I will get a Taoiseach's nomination to the Seanad.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance Review Group Report for the FAI Board and Sport Ireland: Sport Ireland (17 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I thank Mr. Horan and the review group for their report. I thank Sport Ireland, which has been in a difficult situation for the past few years. It has dealt with this quite well, so far so good. It is a situation it does not like to find itself in. We are very fortunate to have such a competent organisation to deal with a situation none of us wants to deal with. The FAI has form here,...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance Review Group Report for the FAI Board and Sport Ireland: Sport Ireland (17 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: I am interested in the international recognition of Irish athletes. The Friends of Irish Athletics appeared before the committee. The Chairman made a statement. What happened? Why did they come in here?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Governance Review Group Report for the FAI Board and Sport Ireland: Sport Ireland (17 Jul 2019)
Frank Feighan: Why would somebody say that somebody in Armagh could not compete for Ireland?
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (24 Sep 2019)
Frank Feighan: I join my colleagues in welcoming today's British Supreme Court ruling, which indicates that common sense is returning to our friends and neighbours. I have often said that we view Brexit as the British accidentally shooting themselves in our foot. That said, there is goodwill in the Parliament of the United Kingdom and in this Parliament. We are committed Europeans but we want to remain...
- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (25 Sep 2019)
Frank Feighan: I propose an amendment to the Order of Business, namely, that No. 13, the Road Traffic (Amendment) 2015 Bill, be taken before No. 1. The Bill will make it a legal requirement to restrain a dog in a secure fashion when travelling in a vehicle. I hope my colleagues will support my proposal to amend the Order of Business.
