Michael Harty: According to the report, there are eight types of consultant contract dating back to 1991. What Dr. de Buitléir is proposing is that in the public system, there be one contract type, namely, a public-only contract, and that if someone wished to practise private medicine, he or she would do it outside his or her public hours or as a private-only consultant.
